Barchael Statement

Barchael believes in the combining of misinterpretation, innovation, and chance as a method to "improve" the world. As a duo, they visualize how things ought to be, with results being either utopian or somewhat unfortunate. They try to define what is wrong with the world and how that can be changed—for better or for worse.

Barchael is the collaborative effort of Michael Bernhardt and Barry Whittaker. Exploring issues of communication, myth, and humor, Barchael navigates a range of media in order to understand—or misunderstand—as much as they can. Their ultimate goal is to undermine self-righteousness, and to make life better for all—especially themselves.
